Pride of Guernsey faces all in one place
AS voting begins, today's newspaper includes a 32-page supplement showcasing all the nominees who have been put forward for our inaugural Guernsey Press Pride of Guernsey Awards.
We have been running their pictures and stories in the newspaper since March when we launched the brand-new set of awards, aimed at celebrating those islanders doing extraordinary things every day but who before now did not qualify for any existing tributes. Now we have gathered all the entrants together in one place to remind you of them all and to help you choose your favourites.
Votes can be cast online on our dedicated Pride of Guernsey website or by using one of our special voting forms, which appear in page four of today's edition and also in the supplement. Photocopies will not be accepted, however we will be running them again at various stages throughout the three-week voting window.
You can vote for as many people as you like in any or all of the categories, however you can only cast one vote per nominee.
The 12 accolades are Emergency Hero, Carer, Neighbour, Grandparent/s, Parent/s, Young Achiever, Parish Champion, Overcoming Adversity, Angel (health workers), Arts Contribution, Teacher and Welcome of the Year.
The three most popular nominees in each category will be shortlisted as finalists. Independent judges including our sponsor partners will then decide on the eventual winners who will be revealed at a special Oscars-style ceremony at a transformed Guernsey Press in October featuring our guest hosts Jo and Andy Priaulx.
Remember, every single vote counts and the winners will each receive a prize worth £1,000. So pick up your Guernsey Press now or click here and visit www.prideofguernsey.com.
