Fontaine Vinery neighbours welcome tenants' relocation

NOISE and disruption from Fontaine Vinery has left residents welcoming the States' plans to relocate the current tenants, who they said they had been campaigning against for years.

The 11 privately-owned businesses based at the vinery have been on rolling one-month contracts since February, and were issued with a notice to leave by the States on Tuesday.

The States have offered their support to the affected firms as they search for alternative accommodation, and could grant an extension of their stay if none could be found, with the land having been earmarked for housing development for the last 20 years.

These plans have gone down well with residents from the neighbouring road, who said they would be pleased to see the vinery tenants leave.

Sue Corbet, 72, pictured, who runs the Hill Crest Cottage B&B, said herself and her fellow neighbours would have no objections to the site being used for housing.
