Pokemon Go away in the evenings – manor owner
A LORD of the manor is pleading for his privacy back after Pokemon hunters have taken to the grounds of Sausmarez Manor in the evenings.
'I think most people do not realise this is a residential house outside of hours,' said Peter de Sausmarez, after explaining how he had looked out of his window to see a crowd of people playing Pokemon Go, the
mobile gaming phenomenon.
Mr de Sausmarez said the app had seen a surge in the number of people visiting the manor during the day, which he welcomed, however it was causing problems after hours. 'It must have started about three weeks ago, when the garden was suddenly full of people,' he said. It was now becoming difficult, because usually after everyone has left after visiting the stately home the family has a brief period of privacy. 'We explain to people that we are not open to the public all the time.'
On one occasion, he said, they must have had 50 or 60 people in total playing it. 'There were two, and it was almost as if they were up to no good, because when I got my camera out they covered their faces and got a bit abusive, so I had to get the police involved.'
Mr de Sausmarez said he was not against people going there to catch Pokemon, but asked if they could keep it to before 5pm.
