Backing for Leale's Yard, Admiral Park projects

TWO major developments have taken a step closer to reality after planners gave their support.

Subject to political backing at an open planning meeting taking place next Wednesday, the long-awaited Leale's Yard and final segment of the Admiral Park development could start being built – the latter a site which could house new offices, a six-screen cinema, hotel and creche.

And planners have relented on a key demand of Admiral Park developers by allowing more parking spaces than they had originally wanted – up to 722, from the initial ceiling of 470.

Comprop are behind the outline planning application for the Admiral Park site – which planners have approved with the caveat that only half the office space can be built until a functioning cinema is in use – and the Channel Island's Co-operative Society have long wanted to see its plans for the Bridge come to fruition.

Costs for both projects are a combined £170m., and previously the Co-op has said its plans could deliver a £300m. boost to Guernsey's economy.
