At the Royal Court, Jersey-based Paton, pictured, was sentenced to 18 months youth detention for each of four counts of indecent assault, running concurrently, and a further 15 months for a further charge of making a threat to kill against her.

He was 18 at the time of the indecent assault of the teenager from Guernsey.

During the sentencing, Judge Russell Finch said the law was designed to protect young women from this kind of behaviour.

As well as the youth detention, totalling 33 months, Paton also faces a further three-year extended period on licence.

He is also subject to notification requirements for a 10-year period.
