The new initiative has been organised by the Alzheimer's Association, in conjunction with the TT social club and the school.

Year 5 teacher and TT club chairwoman Jerry Thomas said the idea had come about while talking to fellow TT club member and Alzheimer's Association chairwoman Barbara Giles.

'We come up with ideas to help people and this year we asked Barbara what we could do and she suggested the hampers.'

Pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were asked to bring in edible goodies to fill the boxes and they rose to the occasion.
