St James reports £57k loss
ST JAMES made a 'significant loss' of £57,000 last year.
The council, the governing body of Guernsey's concert and assembly hall, said the loss in the year to 31 December 2015 was a reflection of tough trading conditions and the redevelopment of Cafe St James.
The loss for the previous year was a similar figure.
The accounts were discussed at the annual meeting, at which a number of changes were made to the council.
With a new president, Peter Niven, the council said it was looking to reverse that trend and place St James on a firmer financial footing over the next three years.
'This will require the widest dissemination of the message that this iconic building is an important element in ensuring Guernsey is seen as an island of quality,' it said.
