They enjoyed story-telling games, a Where's Wally Hunt, designing their own Mr Man and Little Miss character, story puzzles and a competition to design a magic potion.

Children were asked to dress up as their favourite magical book characters for the day.

'There were also lots of challenges for the children to do at home, such as getting caught reading in an unusual place,' said primary school teacher Sally Dawber.

'We had children up trees, in cow sheds and even on a sailing boat in the middle of the ocean.

'We all had a fantastic day.'
