Regular updates given on emergency control centre

HOME AFFAIRS is monitoring regularly the work of the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre 'which had not been without its difficulties' since it was launched two years ago.

President Mary Lowe told the States there had been teething problems, which had been anticipated. 'However, these have been compounded by a lack of staff stability, as a result of a variety of reasons, and difficulties in recruiting suitable staff,' she said.

'Given the importance of the operation, the committee has been receiving regular updates on JESCC to best understand its challenges and to support JESCC and its officers moving forward.

'Financial data for 2016 is being finalised and, given the crucial service JESCC provides, and the public interest in it, we are planning to offer the community more detailed information regarding the centre before the States Accounts are published in May.

'While the introduction of JESCC has not been without its difficulties, it is vital that I stress that the centre is delivering high quality services.'
