Phil Taylor, 57, was discharged from hospital on Monday morning after having around 40 stitches in his cheek and mouth.

The incident happened on Saturday while he and three friends were enjoying a day trip to the island. He is now calling for the dog, which is believed to be of a Bullmastiff breed, to be put down.

Sark constable Glenn Williams said the constables were investigating the matter with the help of Guernsey Police but they could not comment any further. It is not known what has happened to the dog at this stage.
