AN AMENDMENT is being drafted to Education’s college funding proposals that would ‘significantly increase’ the level of annual support they receive.

A video has been released by the colleges detailing the role they play in Guernsey’s education system.

Education’s proposals to cut funding of the three colleges from £4.4m. to £900,000 by 2025 will go to the States on 27 September.

However, the Guernsey Press has been informed that an amendment is in the works that will propose a significantly higher figure.

It is likely to be published by the end of next week.

As it stands, it will propose that the money is used specifically to fund an access scheme to the colleges, aimed at lower to middle income families.

The amendment is set to include a point-by-point rationale of the role that the colleges play in the education system.

A video has been released by the colleges detailing the role they play in Guernsey’s education system, while there was also a meeting between deputies and the colleges on Wednesday afternoon.
