No action against firm which took down building
NO ACTION will be taken against a business that completely demolished a listed building without planners’ permission, the Planning Service has confirmed.
Ideal Furnishings had permission to reduce the height of a dangerous building on the Bordage down to a single storey, after concerns were raised about masonry possibly injuring pedestrians.
But in April the demolition work went further than that, with the building being removed and a historic granite arch also being taken down.
The Planning Service has been investigating the matter over the last few months.
‘Following our investigation it was decided that no further action would be taken, as it was deemed to not be in the public interest in this case,’ a spokesman said.
‘This conclusion was reached after receiving legal advice.’
