A planning application was received on 19 September of this year by Harmsworth Pensions Funds Trustees Ltd on behalf of the MSG for the change of use at the Park Place premises in Park Street from offices to a medical specialist building.

The business currently operates out of buildings including Alexandra Place and Mill House, at a total cost of £917,615 per annum.

The consultation period for States Planning ends on 20 October and Mr Le Moignan said the douzaine will discuss the plans at the next meeting in a few weeks’ time. ‘There is nothing we can do at this stage to prevent it, all we can do is write to give our views. I dare say it will end up in a public enquiry,’ said Mr Le Moignan.

‘I think it’s absolutely ridiculous, there’s not enough parking, they’ve moved temporarily to the PEH and there’s plenty of room there. Why don’t they stay there?'

In a statement, Dr Gary Yarwood, a consultant anaesthetist at the MSG and the clinical lead for intensive care, said: ‘The Medical Specialist Group has grown significantly over the years and currently operates from three separate buildings. Some services are based at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, but the majority of administrative work and outpatient clinics take place on MSG’s premises at Alexandra House, Mill House and the Coach House.

‘The expiry of the Alexandra House lease at the end of 2017 prompted the need to evaluate our options and consider what is best for the long-term interests of the MSG and our patients and staff.'
