Drone user fined £1,500 for crashing it at airport

A DRONE operator has been fined, after crashing it next to a parked jet at the airport, in the first prosecution of its kind in the island.

Dane Wicks, 27, of Jolimont, Le Bourg, Forest, admitted using a surveillance drone within 150 metres of a congested area – the Guernsey Airport, and within 50 metres of a structure not under his control, the Aiglle Hangar.

In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday he was fined £1,500 and the destruction of the drone ordered.
