Peter Piriou has lived at L’Eree since the 1970s.

‘We’ve got no breakfast restaurant or chippy now, we’ve got nothing – it’s a shame.’

Mr Piriou said that since the takeaway had started offering breakfast, more people had begun to use it – especially tradesmen passing through the area.

‘Years ago it was a cafe and a chip shop and it would open from eight or nine o’clock in the morning.’

The Kingfisher closed down on 10 October following a letter from Planning Services advising the business of the conditions of a change of use application granted in 2015.

That was given provided public access to the premises began only at 11am and all customers had to have left by 10.15pm.
