Online video promotes the importance of a good sleep

Islanders are being shown how you can ‘get active by sleeping’ as part of a combined initiative between the Be Active forum, GP Dr Piers Mitchell and Spike Productions.

The 12-minute online video combines expert advice from Dr Mitchell with graphics and animation.

‘We wanted to approach this holistically so it’s not just about making people active, it’s about making them take up a whole active lifestyle,’ said Guernsey’s lifelong learning manager Alun Williams.

‘The Youth Commission, Share [the sexual health organisation] and the Drug and Alcohol Awareness groups all told us they touch upon the importance of sleep so we have made this available as a shared resource.’

The video is thought to be a useful resource to open a conversation about sleeping habits for both parents and teachers. View it here:
