The Guernsey Disability Alliance, through its We All Matter Eh? campaign, is urging businesses in all sectors to look at what they can do to increase their awareness of disability issues, make their workplace more accommodating, and break down perceived or actual barriers.

‘I know from first-hand experience that there are too many instances of people feeling extremely nervous about raising this subject. They are not sure what language to use and are terrified of being politically incorrect,’ said Karen Blanchford, executive director at the Guernsey Disability Alliance. ‘Let’s get beyond that and see how easily we can fully include disabled people in the community.’

The #MakeAChange campaign, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management, runs for the whole of November, concluding with fundraising and awareness events and award presentations, celebrating changes that businesses have made, on Friday 1 December, before the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December.
