A mature nest was found in a sycamore tree in the area in November last year which was subsequently destroyed.

Authorities across the Channel Islands are keen to combat the threat of Asian hornets, which will kill native honey bees, which are important pollinators. They can also give humans a nasty sting.

The public has been asked to be vigilant and report anything of concern to aclms@gov.gg, or telephone 234567.

Any trapped Asian hornets can be delivered to the Plant Health lab at Raymond Falla House, Burnt Lane, where it will be determined whether they are queens or workers. Sightings can also be reported through the Asian Hornet Watch app.
