THE boat that brings the national newspapers to Guernsey from Jersey rescued another vessel on its way here yesterday morning.

It meant the papers were 40 minutes late getting in.

Channel Chieftain V skipper David Nuth said he received a call from Guernsey Port Control at about 5.15am asking if he could help a Guernsey trawler, Albatross, which had broken down about four miles south-east of St Martin’s Point.

‘I’d gone about two miles past and reached the Albatross at about 5.40am,’ said Mr Nuth.

‘We went alongside and, once a line was secured, we began towing it towards towards St Peter Port.’

The national newspapers have failed to arrive in Guernsey only once since the service began about eight months ago.
