Colin Le Ray was speaking after Aurigny hit the international headlines for being one of the first airlines to kit out its ground staff with wearable cameras.

Airport staff have been using the cameras since 2015 and Mr Le Ray said they had made a difference in preventing incidents as well as providing evidence for any investigation.

‘There were two reasons we got them – the first was down to an increase in the number of incidents that our people were starting to experience at the terminal with passengers or individuals who were exhibiting potentially criminal tendencies,’ he said.

‘The second reason was a reflection that the police were wearing them. All our staff on the forecourt are special constables, so it was useful to reflect what the police were doing.’

Aurigny’s body cameras are produced by Edesix Ltd, which has been featured in the New York Times. It is an article that has been shared by other international and national media.

Aurigny’s ground operations manager, Dave Cox, was quoted in the New York Times article.
