Island will review if Jersey votes to change Bailiff’s role

AN ELECTED speaker might be considered to replace the Bailiff in the States of Guernsey, but only in the unlikely event that the Jersey public vote for a similar reform.

Deputy Matt Fallaize, the States Assembly & Constitution Committee president, said in the unlikely case that Jersey voted for the change, ‘the committee will have to review the position in Guernsey and will probably ask the States whether they want to embark on similar reform’.
