His resignation letter has been handed to the Bailiff.

It comes after the committee was under pressure for its handling of cuts to arts and sports funding.

Deputy Ferbrache had earlier this term threatened to walk if he felt the States was not supporting his committee’s vision.

In November it was announced that Deputy Ferbrache would be a consultant to a new independent law firm, Ferbrache & Farrell.

Vice president Jan Kuttelwascher said thanked him for his work.

'Deputy Febrache’s reasons are his own and it would clearly be inappropriate for the committee or its members to discuss them publicly until he has had the opportunity to comment.

‘The committee remains as determined as ever to continue working across its important mandate.'
