Nine arrests have been made both from the random stop checks and as a result of reports and traffic collisions.

Guernsey Police have been running the Christmas drink-drive campaign for 10 years now, in conjunction with Drug and Alcohol Strategy.

‘People do need to remember that they can be unfit to drive even if they are under the limit. They are obviously always breaking the law if they are over the limit, but if someone is clearly unfit to be driving because they are impaired by any substance, then the penalty could be prosecution,' said Roads Policing Sergeant Tom Marshall.

This year’s campaign will continue past Christmas into the first weeks of January.
