Christmas day call for Christine
ST JOHN'S Emergency Ambulance Service was called out to more than two dozen incidents on a busy Christmas Day that also saw the Flying Christine dispatched.

The road ambulance crew attended 25 call-outs, including some cases of sudden severe illness, while the marine ambulance had to be sent to Brecqhou to collect a patient.
The Flying Christine was also requested by the Sark doctor on Boxing Day to transfer a patient for treatment in Guernsey.
'St John would like to thank the volunteer skipper and engineers who gave up part of their Christmas Day and Boxing Day to crew the vessel,' a St John spokesman said. 'A paramedic and technician were also on board for both crossings. On both occasions, on arrival at St Peter Port harbour, the patients were transported to the Emergency Department by road ambulance.'
In addition to these incidents, the volunteer community first responders, who provide urgent care to life-threatening calls in their vicinity before the ambulance arrives, were activated several times on Christmas Day.
