Work experience student back as vet

WORK EXPERIENCE for 15-year-old schoolgirl Caroline Kyle turned into a career with Vets4Pets in Guernsey.

Caroline Kyle did works experience at Vets4Pets in St Martin’s while at school. Now she has returned to the business on its graduate scheme.

She decided to pursue veterinary medicine at university and, having graduated from Edinburgh University, where she was supported through a bursary from Vets4Pets, she has returned to the practice where it all started for her on its two-year graduate scheme.

‘It’s great to be back at Vets4Pets Guernsey as it’s played a key role in me achieving what I have so far, although there is more to come from our relationship,’ she said.

She said that the St Martin’s practice almost became ‘a second home’ during school and university holidays.

The bursary enabled her to study veterinary practices across the world, including conservation work at a safari park, shelter medicine in India and time at the University of California Davis, completing an externship in cardiology.

In her role on the practice’s graduate scheme, she will also offer support for young people who are interested in following in her footsteps and pursuing their own ambitions to become a vet.
