Students and young islanders interested in a career with a creative agency took part in the second Big Think at the Digital Greenhouse organised by local advertising agency LRD – The Big Idea. They had to pitch their ideas to ‘client’ Lance Plunkett, centre.

The event took a small group of potential agency team members, put them into teams and presented them with a fictitious but challenging brief to solve with creative ideas.

They were given a ‘real-life’ deadline of 22 hours to plan and develop their campaigns before being judged by the ‘client’ – locally-based digital entrepreneur Lance Plunkett – and staff of LRD.

Mr Plunkett presented a scenario requiring a creative campaign for high-tech footwear under the brand Barefoot.

He said he was impressed with the ideas presented.

‘It’s hard enough for industry professionals to come up with creative solutions that actually work. Many of our young creative thinkers didn’t know each other to begin with, but once the teams were picked it wasn’t long before the different members sparked off each other and the ideas started coming.

‘They were working to a very tight deadline, had to develop ideas across many different platforms and had to present them in a formal, professional manner, so the pressure was on.’
