Three non-emergency operations have been postponed so far as winter pressures take their toll.
Bed capacity hit 91.5% early in the day. As of 5pm, the hospital had reduced its medical and surgical beds occupancy to 88% – below the 91% threshold for a state of red alert.
While Health & Social Care is actively monitoring the situation and working hard to minimise disruption, director of Hospital Services Jan Coleman said it may be necessary to postpone some non-urgent admissions and operations to maintain capacity.
