Police are investigating what happened to Mr Alps after his car was discovered burnt out at Petit Bot with a shotgun and human remains inside.

He set up the public Facebook page ‘Help Ukrainian Defenders C.I’ which asks for items including medical supplies, clothes and food.

The most recent post from Mr Alps is dated in September, showing items of kit including a torch.

According to Janis Pujats – who also acts as admin on the page – Mr Alps had planned to visit the Ukraine in November but had to postpone the trip.
