Businesses have been invited to display a sticker in a window or on a door which will show that they have toilets available to use by the public.

David Falla, chairman of the St Peter Port amenities committee, said the introduction of the scheme shows Guernsey in ‘a better light’.

‘The St Peter Port douzaine have been mindful for some time that, although public toilet provision in the town centre by the States is sufficient along the seafront, it is clear that public toilet provision away from the harbour is not provided,’ said Mr Falla.

n The founder participants of the community toilet scheme are the Co-op in the Market buildings, Creasey’s outlets in the High Street and on Smith Street, the Golden Lion, the Guille-Alles Library, the Harbour Lights pub, St James Concert Hall and the St Peter Port Constables’ Office.
