Chamber calls for joint board on economy

A COMBINED industry and political economic development board should be created to help drive forward successful long-term economic policy, Chamber of Commerce president Martyn Dorey has said.

The comment follows confirmation that the Economic Development committee wants to withdraw its vision document, after the resignations of Peter Ferbrache, Jan Kuttelwascher and Jennifer Merrett, and the appointment of Charles Parkinson as president, David De Lisle and Dawn Tindall.

Only deputies Joe Mooney and Andrea Dudley-Owen were part of the original committee that drew up the vision, which is now being reviewed.

Chamber had been one of the most vocal supporters of the vision.

‘Industry as a whole was keen to move forward and keen to have a direction to go in,’ said Mr Dorey.
