States revved up over luxury car storage firm

A NEW local business offering storage for very rare and valuable cars is exactly the type of business the island wants to attract, should help to put Guernsey on the map, according to senior figures at the States.

‘This state-of-the-art storage facility for supercars will do its bit to help put Guernsey on the map.

‘People who maybe didn’t know about Guernsey beforehand will know about it now,’ said Andrew Carey, head of Locate Guernsey, which helped mother and son Karen and Robert Lewis to establish the business locally and move personally from Jersey to Guernsey.

Their business, Lordes, will offer storage for more than 100 luxury vehicles in a custom-designed, high-security environment.

Ms Lewis said the island fitted the bill for the company in many ways.

‘For us, choosing the location for our storage facility involved a lot of factors from costs, to property selection, to taxes and to lifestyle and ease of doing business – Guernsey ticked all the boxes.

‘We’re delighted to be a new member of the business community in Guernsey and eager to promote the island to our international client base,’ she said.
