Number of places failing basic food hygiene rating halves in months

JUST six premises are failing the basic three-star food hygiene rating, as Environmental Health staff work with businesses to improve restaurants and cafes.

That compares with 12 in November and 10 this time last year.

One of those with two stars is States-run Sunnybrook Care Home.

Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation director Tobin Cook said three stars was classed as generally satisfactory.

‘It is pleasing to see that fewer premises are failing to meet basic hygiene standards,’ he said.
