Deputy Lester Queripel to resign from Education, Sport and Culture

He was the only member who had not announced their intention to stand down in the wake of the States accepting a model for secondary education that was for one school on two sites, rather than the three-school model proposed by ESC itself.

Deputy Queripel opposed the alternative model, but said he was happy to work with any new committee.

But he said that having given the matter a lot of thought, stepping down was 'the most pragmatic approach'.

He added that he intended to seek election to the new committee.
