‘Historic buildings being put at risk’

HISTORIC buildings are being put at risk, the National Trust and Festung Guernsey have warned, after Planning Services confirmed that there were no plans to review the listing of non-domestic properties.

A review of protected residential buildings could finally be completed early this year, following more than six years of work

But there is still no schedule for when non-residential buildings could be investigated to see if they could be given protection.

Historically more buildings were protected in the north of the island and in Town, but a full criteria for listing properties was only finally drawn up and released in 2014.

Since then a number of the properties have been added or removed from the list, or had their listing altered to ensure only historic parts were protected.
