‘Common-sense approach for listing non-domestic buildings’
PLANNERS are taking a common-sense approach to listing non-domestic buildings, as there are not the resources available to do a systematic review, a Planning Services spokesman has said.

The comment follows Planning Service stating that it had no plans to do a full review of such buildings, once they had finished reviewing homes.
A spokesman said it was keen to reassure islanders.
‘The Planning Services has sought to take a common-sense approach to addressing the protection of non-residential buildings, by prioritising and co-ordinating it with other workstreams such as the preparation of development frameworks, conservation area character appraisals and on an ad-hoc basis in relation to consideration of development applications,’ he said.
The spokesman said they had been working to deliver the protected building review within the section’s existing resources, which was delayed by about 12 months primarily due to project team members leaving the island.
