It was one of 34 shops and 19 concession stores remaining.

The UK chain, which opened in 1994, closed 19 of its branches in 2015 in an attempt to cut costs.

Shoppers said its service and interesting collections would be missed and one said the staff would always come to her with suggestions.

Joint administrator for East, Geoff Rowley, told The Telegraph newspaper of the closure. ‘Unfortunately, East is the latest high street casualty following a tough trading period at the end of last year.

‘The retailer was making progress to expand its footprint, particularly looking at international opportunities. However, it has been unable to secure the necessary funding to realise those plans.’
