The council has purchased six cans of the biodegradable, non-toxic paint, which has been trialled by two of the volunteer rangers over the last few weeks.

Mrs Marquand said it had been going well.

‘I am doing [spraying] as many as six to eight every day,’ she said.

‘The dog walkers don’t usually comment about what I am doing.

‘But the golfers have commented.

‘They are quite pleased, as it means they can see it and won’t pull their trolleys or walk through it.’
