The organisers came together from a number of different sectors to promote safe engagement with the internet and digital technology.

Experts were on hand giving talks throughout the day on safety from cyber crime, gaming and social media.

Children were also able to have a go on virtual reality headsets and other interactive tools.

‘It’s online safety week this week but we decided to make this a showcase of the amazing stuff you can do with digital as well,’ said Ben Wratten, from the Digital ACE organising committee.

‘Attitudes have certainly changed over the last three years. When we started out there were a lot of parents in attendance concerned about how to lock down internet usage.

‘Now we have things like the Digital Greenhouse training senior citizens how to use tools like Skype to keep connected, 300 people attended that course last year,’ he said.
