If planning permission is granted, Guernsey FC will play in a purpose-built stadium at Victoria Avenue, part of a £2m. project alongside the Guernsey Football Association.

The scheme, for a ground that holds 4,000 and a 3G training pitch, will be part-funded by the Football Association. The aim is to have the stadium ready for the 2021 NatWest Island Games.

Tony Vance, the Green Lions coach, called it ‘the ultimate legacy for Guernsey football’.

Chris Schofield, chairman of the Guernsey Football Association, said it would serve the sport for the rest of the century.

‘The project is a massive venture by the GFA and represents the culmination of hundreds of hours of meetings with the Football Association, States departments, architects, project managers, Guernsey FC and numerous other parties required to facilitate such a project,’ he said.

GFC chairman Mark Le Tissier said it would sustain his club in the long term.

‘It is our vision that this new facility will be much more than a stand where our fans watch football. We hope to create a community hub and our hope for the facility is very much in line with the goals of the GFA.’
