Castle Cornet opens Friday with firing of noonday gun
CASTLE CORNET will be fully open for the season as the noonday gun is fired this Friday.
The gun will be fired by a representative of Cannon Asset Management.
Education, Sport & Culture president Matt Fallaize said: ‘We are very pleased that the first gun of the season will again be fired by a representative of Cannon Asset Management. Cannon has sponsored the ammunition for the gun and the gunners’ uniforms for over a decade and the heritage of Guernsey benefits greatly from this support.’
All the castle’s museums, the shop and cafe will be open from 10am to 5pm daily, with guided tours taking place at 10.30am.
Fort Grey will also open this Friday, from 10am to 4.30pm daily. Visitors to the fort can also see the timbers from the Roman ship known as ‘Asterix’ across the road at Guernsey Pearl.
The German Naval Signals Headquarters in St Jacques will reopen for visits every afternoon from 12.30 to 4.30pm.
It is being promoted as part of the Occupation-themed Channel Islands Heritage Festival.
Admission rates for all Guernsey Museum attractions are published on its website and in the Museums & Castles brochure available from tourist information racks.
Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children are admitted free to all sites.
