A member of the public called the emergency services just before 2.30pm. By the time the police arrived two minutes later, the white estate vehicle was well alight.

Guernsey Fire & Rescue green watch were soon also on the scene.

Crew commander Milton Le Moignan said firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel to tackle the blaze.

A derelict van was set alight last Tuesday evening in a suspected arson attack.

Guernsey Police are inspecting the scene and Inspector John Davis said at this stage they were not linking the incidents, but they would know more tomorrow.
