Condor revises June sailings due to Rapide repair work

The ship will be withdrawn from service from Monday 18 to Friday 22 June to undergo repair work in Cherbourg to one of its water jets.

Condor will amend its timetable during the period, using the Liberation and passenger and freight ferry the Clipper to provide replacement sailings linking the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and St Malo.

That will force the Liberation to also revise its timetable on sailings to Guernsey and Jersey from Poole on Monday 18, Wednesday 20 and Friday 22 June as well as replace Rapide’s St Malo sailings over the five-day period.

Condor CEO Paul Luxon said the repairs were unforeseen and the company is being proactive in order to minimise inconvenience to passengers.

‘As soon as we were aware of the need to undertake this essential work, which is an adjustment from the existing dry dock programme, we put in place a plan,’ he said.

‘This involves selecting dates that avoid holidays and then notifying passengers, offering alternatives and allowing everyone as much time as possible to rearrange their travel on other sailings.’

This spell of disruption comes just months after Rapide spent weeks in dry dock during January and February.

  • Each of Condor’s ferries have annual checks at Falmouth in Cornwall, costing the company £7m. each year.
