The blaze broke out at a property on Airport Road.
Emergency services were called at around 7pm when an airport firefighter was on his way home after the airport closed.
Fire took hold of an oil tank adjacent to a single storey property. Its occupant had been taking a shower at the time when he was alerted to the fire and emerged in just a towel.
Both of Alderney’s volunteer fire trucks arrived to tackle the fire, which took around 45 minutes to fully put out. The fire may have been caused from a fault in the boiler which was next to the oil tank outside the house.
No one was hurt in the blaze.
