Designer to represent UK at international festival

A LOCAL DESIGNER is one of a handful of people selected to represent the UK at this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Max Crame, 25, from Guernsey is one of the UK representatives at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Work by Max Crame and his colleague Sarah Grech, who work for agency MSL UK in London, will be entered in the Young Lions category, which is for teams of two advertising professionals up to 28 years old.

‘We were amazed when we heard the news and we’re both really excited to be competing in Cannes next month as well as exploring everything the festival has to offer,’ said Mr Crame.

Their entry is in the digital category of the competition and to succeed they had to come up with an integrated social campaign to build awareness for youth homelessness charity Depaul UK. The catch was that they had only 24 hours in which to do it.

But Mr Crame said that although they were working right up to the deadline, they enjoyed every minute of it: ‘Regardless of winning or not, I’d thoroughly recommend taking part to anyone starting out in a creative career – it’s a fantastic opportunity and a lot of fun to work on too,’ he said.

Mr Crame is 25 and has been working in the industry for almost five years.

He was educated at Elizabeth College and the Grammar Sixth Form centre, after which he did a degree at Portsmouth University.

After spending several years working in the area of branding and identity for Evolve Agency in London, he moved to MSL UK, which is a PR-led creative agency.

He is currently working on campaign-based projects for a variety of companies from big corporates to consumer and lifestyle brands.

But he still finds time to return to Guernsey. He said: ‘I’m lucky to have a big family on the island that I can always come back to – especially in the summer when it’s beach weather.’
