Close your mouth when eating and use some deodorant – Condor’s top tips for ferry travel

FOR years, ferry passengers have simply been asked to turn up on time and make sure they sit in their allocated seats.

But now Condor has taken a more prescriptive approach to the dos and don’ts of travel – and published a 10-point guide to ensure that everything goes smoothly on board.

Among the operator’s top tips, which are published on its website and displayed on board its ferries, are that passengers should eat with their mouths closed, go easy on the alcohol and ensure that they ‘smell swell’ by using deodorant.

It follows a recent survey by research company One Poll, which asked 2,000 people about their top travel annoyances. Drunken behaviour, body odour, people on mobile phones and loud eating all featured in the top five.

Condor chief executive Paul Luxon said the guide was designed to provide a ‘common-sense approach’ and could be applied to all travellers, not just those on ferries.

‘We have not developed our guide to take the fun out of travelling, quite the contrary,’ he said.

‘We want to encourage a positive experience on our ships for all passengers.

‘For many, travelling with Condor is the start of a well-earned summer holiday so we want to help ensure everyone has an enjoyable journey as soon as they step aboard any of our ferries.

‘We hope our guide will play a useful role in creating a harmonious environment, not just on our ferries, but on other forms of public transport too,’ he added.

Other advice includes placing your feet on the floor – not the seat, to not shout, sing or discuss problems loudly and to not swear. Passengers are also asked to not leave rubbish.
