The drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

All three emergency services were called to the incident, which saw the Chevrolet end up on its roof, while the Suzuki was driven to a nearby house.

PC Lyndsey Bell said investigations would continue into the cause.

‘We have got witnesses that will need to come in to provide statements and we need to speak to the two drivers,’ she said early yesterday afternoon.

‘Our priority was that medical attention was provided to them.’

It was believed at the time that one vehicle was travelling from the direction of Braye Road and the other was coming down Route Militaire from the direction of St Clair Hill.

Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service crew commander Milton Le Moignan said they were mainly there to make the area safe, given the debris in the road.

‘Upon arrival there was one casualty in the Matiz. The lady had been pulled out of the car by passers-by. She had cuts to her arms and abrasions to her legs and was treated on scene.

‘The two vehicles came into contact, which caused the turnover.

‘We are making sure the scene is safe, we have disconnected the Chevrolet’s battery and dealt with fuel spillage and the glass in the road.’

A spokesman for the St John Emergency Ambulance Service said both drivers had been assessed and treated for minor injuries and were able to be discharged on scene.

The road was reopened at around 12.50pm.
