It stood at 99.8% for 2018, compared to 97.6% in England.

The Bailiwick also achieved 27.9% of grades at A* or A, compared to 26.4% in England.

Education, Sport & Culture vice president Richard Graham said: ‘I would like to congratulate all of those who achieved an outstanding set of results this year. This excellent outcome is due to the students’ hard work but we should also recognise the support and dedication of their teachers, lecturers and support staff who have played such a significant part in the students’ success.

‘All of us in the Bailiwick should be proud of what they have achieved together.’
