Deputy head boy Daniel Lake was proud not just of his own results but of how well the year group did as a whole.

‘I know everyone worked so hard and it was such a positive atmosphere here today. We all put in a lot of effort.’

The 16-year-old achieved 11 GCSEs, seven at A*/A, and will go on to the Sixth Form Centre to study in the IB programme.

Finishing with 12 GCSEs and heading to Sixth Form to study chemistry, film and economics was Luke Bourgaize, 16.

‘I am very, very happy with my results, I had a bit of a sleepless night worrying about this morning but I did much better than I thought,’ he said.

Cousins Jaimie and Seb Sheppard were very pleased with their results and were surprised by their success in a few subjects.

‘I did so much better than I expected to,’ said Seb.

‘I’m pleased I put in all the hard work.’

Jaimie was very emotional and said she had not expected an A in history.

Both are looking to go on to Sixth Form after the summer.

Leilami Chatterton, 16, said: ‘I am pleased but it’s quite a mixed bag. Overall I think I did well.’

She will study art, photography and media studies in sixth form.

Head teacher Vicky Godley said, ‘We are thrilled’.

‘I am absolutely delighted with the results and the students have all worked so hard.’
