All of the Year 11 students achieved a pass of C or above (or equivalent) in both English and maths.

Sixteen-year-old Sam Broadhurst said he was really happy when he opened his results.

‘I did better than I expected to,’ he said, achieving A*/A (or equivalent grades 9, 8 and 7) in all of his subjects.

‘I really didn’t think I would get a 9 in additional maths and biology, so I’m really pleased.’

Sam will stay at college for sixth form.

Alex Tapp, also 16, was very emotional as he opened his results one by one.

‘I was really nervous this morning, I didn’t know what to expect.’

Alex passed all of his GCSEs and was especially pleased with his 8 in English.

‘I did much better than expected, I thought there were a few I wouldn’t pass,’ he said.

Looking to move to Grammar for sixth form, Alex leaves college a happy man.

Alex Queripel and his twin brother, Kristian, were pleased with their results.

‘I achieved most of the targets I set myself and did better than I expected in a few,’ said Alex.

Twenty students achieved at least 10 A*/A or equivalent grades.

Principal Jenny Palmer said: ‘I am delighted with this set of GCSE results and what it means for our students in enabling them to move on to the next phase of their education.

‘The results include many outstanding individual performances across the broad ability spectrum of our students.’
