College of FE 94% pass rate for Level 2s
COLLEGE OF FURTHER EDUCATION Level 2 students outperformed their UK counterparts and enjoyed further year-on-year improvements in their overall pass rate.
The percentage of students passing their courses increased to 94%, which is 4% more than last year and 11% more than two years ago.
College of FE vice principal Jeanette Hart was absolutely delighted with the improvement and the results achieved. ‘I am also really pleased at their results in comparison with UK colleges, which average about 80%,’ she said. ‘Their results are excellent and will enable them to progress to Level 3.
‘With most of our pupils we are able to confirm their results at the end of the summer term, but we like to use this day to celebrate their achievements.’
Having completed her Level 2 course in business administration, Tayla Jones, 17, will be back at the college’s Coutanchez campus next term – albeit in a different capacity.
‘I have got a job here [at the college] as a receptionist,’ she said.
‘When I started the course I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I am pleased I did it.
‘This job will start me off, I don’t know yet what I want to do in the future.’
Ebony Mollet, 17, undertook a beauty therapy course. ‘I’m going to the Sixth Form Centre now to do media studies, art and film.’
Joe Collenette, 18, got a diploma in public services, something in which he has a real interest.
‘I’ve been learning about the prison, the police and all the different services,’ he said.
Although he has yet to finalise the next step in his career, he is hoping to put his studies to good use in the future.
‘I want to be a prison officer, he said.
